Iditarod Sled Dog Race® in Alaska
March 1-8, 2012
It’s like no other event in the world: over 1,150 miles of the most extreme and beautiful terrain Mother Nature has to offer. And you can be there at the start of the most famous sled dog race, the historic Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Spend the next week exploring with Ambassadair president and Alaska expert, Michael Grueninger, who spent two summers as a guide in Alaska.
Hobnob with enthusiasts at the Mushers Banquet (where mushers draw their starting positions) and get up close and personal with the mushers themselves and their dogs in pre-race celebrations as well as at the start of the race. During the week, unwind at the luxurious Alyeska Resort, 40 miles from Anchorage and tucked amid the Chugach Mountains on Alaska’s southcentral coast. Here you can discover the wilderness and expansive beauty of the Last Frontier.
